Hosting Support Technician (Tier I)

Job Summary –
Respond to customer support requests within defined SLA times. Determine issue type, check
known error database for solution, and escalate as necessary.
Monitor, and test services for reliability and issue remediation. Monitor backups and resolve
backup issues. Monitor traffic flow for spikes and provide basic remediation and escalation if
necessary. Adhere to documented processes and procedures.
Tasks and Responsibilities –

  • Answer telephone calls and inbound emails to assist clients encountering problems within established SLA.
  • Monitor systems for equipment failure or errors in performance.
  • Collect information about service incidents and search known error database. Provide remediation if possible, escalate as necessary.
  • Review backup audits and provide remediation for backup failures.
  • Respond to incoming abuse reports and notify clients or provide basic investigation of abuse source as determined by service level.
  • Schedule and apply software and Operating System patches and updates as directed.
  • Assist with provisioning tasks as directed by supervisor.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to all customers, both external and internal.

Shift Timing:

Initial Training Period (4-6 weeks): M-F, 8:00-5:00PM, and then 4 10 hour shifts. Wednesday – Saturday

Hours:
Night: 10:00PM – 8:30AM

Compensation:

Full Time: $11.5 – $16/hr ($24K – $36K/yr)

Hosting Support Engineer (Tier II)

Job Summary –
Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate network systems to determine network usage, disk space availability, and server function.
Responsibilities include performing network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption.
Provide escalated user support, and tier 1 support as needed.
Perform task delegation as required.
Provide first level of issue escalation while on shift.
Document solutions to problems in Known Error Database.
Participate in on-call rotation for issue escalation.

Tasks and Responsibilities –

  • Analyze and report computer network security breaches or attempted breaches.
  • Configure and define parameters for installation or testing of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), hubs, routers, switches, controllers, multiplexers, or related networking equipment.
  • Configure security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals.
  • Configure wide area network (WAN) or local area network (LAN) routers or related equipment.
  • Create or revise user instructions, procedures, or manuals.
  • Create or update technical documentation for network installations or changes to existing installations.
  • Document help desk requests and resolutions.
  • Document network support activities.
  • Perform task delegation
  • Provide first line of escalation.
  • Provide provisioning support.
